THE SHUTTERBUG BLOG exists to showcase the copyrighted photography of Sam Haddock, Jr... view New England through the lens of "The Shutterbug on Knights Pond." Drop by often, as Sam continues to capture the essence of Maine and her environs.

And I surely hope, along with other fans of Sam's photography, that we'll be viewing gardens, nature and the East Coast through Shutterbug's lens for many seasons to come! From nostalgic to timely, and noteworthy to humorous, Sam's accompanying commentary brings these wonderful photographs to life.

So, join me in wishing "Shutterbug" health and happiness in 2010! Meanwhile, enjoy our periodical posts...

Pemaquid Point

©2007 S.W. Haddock, Jr

Brackish water pools in stratified basins,
upon rock that was spewed from the ocean,
eons ago, continually sculpted by raging sea.

High atop this mass, man saw fit to build
a lighthouse and keeper's cottage, to warn,
forevermore, of these deadly sedimentary deposits.

And above all this, on a sunny summer day,
beneath a translucent blue sky,
we breathe deeply of the salty tang,
watch the scudding clouds
and dream of Yankee clippers.
